"Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, waterbugs, tadpoles, frogs & turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, hickory nuts, trees to climb, animals to pet, hayfields, pine cones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets – and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of his education." -Luther Burbank 1849 - 1926

Schooltime Pumpkins

Youngsters really go for the size, color and shape of Schooltime pumpkns for smashing, carving and eating! Kids can grow pumpkin plants in both small and large gardens with close spacing for higher yields.

Schooltime is a multipurpose pumpkin seed variety, excellent for fall decorating, Jack O'Lanterns and the flesh is excellent for making pies. The pumpkins have dark orange color and are quite smooth with just a little ribbing. They measure about 7 inches across by 9 inches deep and are extremely uniform. Maturity is very early, about 87 to 95 days, so this variety can be planted later than most pumpkins.

The Schooltime pumpking makes a great teaching pumpkin -- take a kid or two under your wind ang teach them about plants and gardening with a pumpkin designed for carving, smashing and even pumpkin pie!

Schooltime pumpkin seeds are available from some of these retail mail-order and packet seed sources:

Burpee W. Atlee
Henry Field's Seed and Nursery Co.
Park Seed
Nichols Garden Nursery
Tomato Growers Supply
Mountain Valley Seed
Garden Trends
West Coast Seed
Allen Sterling & Lothrop
Wilhite Seed Co
Gurney's Seed & Nursery Co.
