Gardening for wildlife includes several benefits. Birds and animals are wonderful pollinators and farmers of native plants. They bring not only beauty of sights and sounds, but the wonder of the natural process to your yard and garden. But wildlife also need a bit of special care. They need native plants -- some animals can only eat a particular kind of native plant -- and when those native populations are replaced by exotic species from around the world, the wildlife populations are starved out of your region. Wildlife also need gardening without chemicals -- fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, etc. are harmful to the reproductive and growth cycles of insects, birds, squirrels, moles, and all the rest of our wondrous little critters.

By planting with care, you can nurture all life -- plants, wildlife...and human. Here are some sources of high quality plants, but it is still important to make your selection carefully based on the kind of environment you want to create and foster for your beloved critters and family.
