Pacific Palisades, a Los Angeles Area Beach Community
Pacific Palisades is a Southern California beach community that snuggles between Santa Monica and Malibu in the greater Los Angeles area.
With a population of approximately 25,000, this charming small town was founded in 1922 and retains much of its traditional look and feel. The resident fiercely protect their "village" atmosphere.
Nestled in the foothills of the lush, green Santa Monica Mountains that are habitat for a huge number of native birds, wildflowers and natural springs and urban wilderness retreats, Pacific Palisades also has a sandy beach nestled up against the "palisades" (high bluffs) that run for three miles along the Pacific Ocean, providing homes and visitors with breathtaking views of Santa Monica Bay.
During the migration season, whales can be spotted occasionally, dolphins play in the breakers, and people get into the wave riding adventure with sailboats, kayaks, surfing and fishing.
Area attractions include the Paul Getty Museum, Will Rogers Park, Temescal Canyon Park, Riviera Country Club, the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine and the Pacific Athletic Club.
