Audubon Naturalist Society- Mid Atlantic Naturalists

The Audubon Naturalist Society fosters stewardship of the region's environment by educating citizens about the natural world, promoting conservation of biodiversity, and protecting wildlife habitat.

Founded in 1897, the independent nonprofit society focuses its efforts in the mid-Atlantic region. You are welcome to visit our nature sanctuaries.

Major activities include Education and Conservation Programs

  • ANS is a pioneer in linking conservation activities with natural history studies.
  • Nearly 350 diverse conservation education programs for people of all ages -- from outdoor, family-oriented activities to school-based programs to natural history field trips.
  • Programs held throughout the Washington metropolitan area; many easily accessible from Metro.

Audubon Nature Preschool to Open September 2006

In September 2006, the Audubon Naturalist Society will further expand outreach to children. Headquartered at our Woodend Sanctuary in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the Audubon Nature Preschool will provide a unique nature-based curriculum for young children.
