"Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, waterbugs, tadpoles, frogs & turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, hickory nuts, trees to climb, animals to pet, hayfields, pine cones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets – and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of his education." -Luther Burbank 1849 - 1926

Tim Grant and Gail Littlejohn, Co-Editors, Green Teacher Magazine

Tim Grant and Gail Littlejohn founded Green Teacher Magazine, which has become an important focal point for environmental education in Canada. Tim and Gail, in their roles as co-editors, but also through their support to EE in many other areas, are true stewards and leaders for environmental education in Canada. This magazine and these two people link Environmental Educators across the country to share the best in teaching methods, activities, evaluation and resources.

Tthe personal commitment of Gail and Tim to reach out to their fellow environmental educators across the country, shows that they themselves 'live what they teach'. Tim and Gail are an inspiration to all across Canada. They have initiated and led many different campaigns to support EE through launching letter writing efforts, hosting workshops and meetings, and raising awareness about issues critical to environmental stewardship and education.

Green Teacher magazine is especially important because through the power of the printed word, communities can be reached that would otherwise have limited access to environmental education support or information.
