"Every child should have mud pies, grasshoppers, waterbugs, tadpoles, frogs & turtles, elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, hickory nuts, trees to climb, animals to pet, hayfields, pine cones, rocks to roll, sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets – and any child who has been deprived of these has been deprived of the best part of his education." -Luther Burbank 1849 - 1926

Healthy Garden – Healthy Home - Integrated Pest Management

I grew up on an organic farm...and we used natural and manual methods to control pests. Fences, hand picking potato bugs :-), clean fence rows, mulching, composting, and planting compatible plants in the garden. These were just a few ways we survived and had wonderful gardens and fields without pesticides. I know it can be done...and now, urban gardeners and parents are discovering that they can clean out their old, rusty, crumbling stashes of chemicals and live in better harmony with nature. The method is called "Integrated Pest Management."

Gardeners an farmers...and homeowners, can learn to manage and identify insects, mites, diseases, nematodes, weeds, and vertegrates. Solve you pest management problems WITHOUT pesticides...for a safer environment...clean air, healthy fresh water, nutrient rich soil...and clean oceans, too.

IPM isn't just about also helps with Weed Management Rabbit Control Slug Control Molds...Mice...and more

Healthy Garden – Healthy Home is a new program giving the residents of San Diego County the opportunity to improve our water resources. As part of this effort, a team of 25 UCCE San Diego County Master Gardeners have undergone extensive in-depth Integrated Pest Management (IPM) training in order to provide outreach to the San Diego Community.
